We sit around thinking we have no social life and for some of us this is very true; but really we can have a social life whenever we fucking well like. Having a random night where you get off your arse and just go fit can have a ripple effect that no one can predict. If you never plan to go out or really don’t want to, you will be more surprised if you get off your arse and just do it. And when I say just do it, I ain’t stealing Nike’s slogan; I telling you that or really I’m ranting about the fact that I am as guilty as anyone for saying I have no social life. I don’t need my friends with me to have a good time; though they would help, but most live in Wales and the rest of them at home hardly speak to me, are working or are already off out with their friends. At this moment in time, I stuck in rut cause I have no money or not as much as I’d like to be able to go out every week – I remember years ago when I worked for a living and my social life was included with my work – working in a pub, hotel or restaurant was my fun night out. But now a fun night out for me consists of a couple of bottles of cider, sat in bed watching Glee or Smallville or maybe a film!
Music is what keeps me going and keeps me smiling, if I didn’t have a steady beat to listen to, to take me away to some mystic dance floor then I’d be lost. Walking back from Asda early on I was listening to “Foot Loose” and just wanted to bust-a-move; though I’d be looked at funny and think there was something wrong with me. Everyone of us wants to break out of that hard shell we are trapped in and show people that we can have fun on our own. I actually feel like joining some salsa club, just so I can bust-a-move and not feel like an idiot – I want to have some fun in my own time, other than going to a club and feel like no one is looking. I always remember a card my sister bought me for my birthday and the inside said – “Dance like nobody is watching” – I agree with this quote because it’s true. Feel the music; shut your eyes and dance the night away – so what if you look like a dick dancing away, if it’s making you feel good, everyone else can go fuck themselves because if you’re having a good time nothing else matters. Everyone has got a flo and as long as there is a random beat thumbing away then you can get your groove on and dance till your feet are sore!
